The East Bay Dog Listener, Based In The San Francisco Bay Area.
Dog Listening enables us to see the world through the eyes of the dog.
Louise was born in England and grew up in Warwickshire. Members of her family still live there.
Dogs have always been a part of her life and although she loved them, did not fully understand them, and more importantly their needs. When first trained to work with dogs, Louise used the traditional method, one where dogs were corrected. There was nothing positive about it! This method never seemed right to her. Then she borrowed the book, The Dog Listener by Jan Fennell. The book opened her eyes to the mind of a Canine, and changing a dog's behavior in a gentle way. Relieving a dogs stress, and at the same time getting willing cooperation from our friend. The joy of being able to have the relationship that you want and get it in a simply kind way. Working dogs, service dogs, sofa friends, any and all dogs, will willingly cooperate using this method.
Louise loved this kind method (Amichien Bonding) so much that she attended a foundation course, in California, and was asked to continue with her training by taking the advanced course, which she did in England.
Having completed all of the required courses, Louise was invited to become a Dog Listener by Jan's organization.
Louise works with rescue groups, helping dogs being fostered and those needing a little extra help after they go to their new home. Louise is always happy to help any rescue group, Shelter, organization using working or service dogs. Traveling to many different areas, sharing Jan Fennells method. She is also a volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a puppy raising leader with the Alameda County Guide Dog Puppy Raising Club, a 4H leader, helping families raise puppies. Louise has raised 8 Guide Dog puppies. Amongst her pack are two retired Guide Dogs, Norton and Allen.
Louise is a member of, Jan Fennell's International Dog Listener's Ltd Organization, and holds a certificate, in Advanced Canine Communication. Studying dogs and their behavior is a life long passion.
The Pay Family have lived on three continents, moving with her husband to Hong Kong for three years in the late eighties, which they loved.
In 1996 the then family of five, moved to the States. The Bay Area is home to the Pay family, and they plan on enjoying the sun for a long time to come.
Louise has been to Yellowstone National Park, to study wolves with Jan Fennell, and other Dog Listeners. A wonderful opportunity to understand our Canine friends in their world.
